The "S" suffix indicates the rings are stacked on top of one another, using automated equipment, and taped in that position. The resulting cartridges can be used to feed automated assembly equipment for easier, more efficient installation of the rings. Poodle style external retaining rings are a unique, heavy duty, radially-assembled ring which provide substantially greater gripping strength and load capacity than the conventional E Style rings.
